The two big things we've been working on are not even sewing related, but the one at least is craft related. Finally after 5 years of being on the To-Do List we've started fencing our yard in: YAY! The other is that we've been working on building Miss A a kitchen.
I didn't care too much for any of the ones you can buy in the stores, but found the plans for Ana-White's that I really loved (if you've never visited that site, GO TO IT NOW! She has so many fantastic and FREE plans to build just about anything). Anyways.... we've been working on this since the fall, it was supposed to be A's birthday present, then Christmas, we might get it done for her birthday THIS year.
We're so close to getting it done, too. I need to paint the knobs for the stove and Matt has to build a door for the stove. The problem we found with the original plans was that it was so low to the ground that Ave really loved opening the door and stepping on it...not good.
I did a faux granite counter top, by layering paint: A base coat of black, followed by sponged coats of dark brown, beige, and mixing the brown and beige, then adding some more dark brown sponging on top. It really came out well, I thought.
For Easter my mother-in-law made all of the kids (ours' and brother in laws) outfits...which I didn't manage to get a picture of, but I made my own skirt. It turned out better than I thought and wasn't as difficult as it seemed. I didn't know what size to make it from the pattern, since the pattern measurements were way different than my own, but it ended up working out all right. {I'll have to get a better picture of this too, the next time I wear it}
It's a simple "wrap" skirt, that isn't...the front is stitched to look like a wrap, but it's closed and then I put a "modesty" panel behind it because the opening just came up way too high.
I think that's all I have for ya' this month :-) Be sure to check out Freshly Pieced and see what other things everyone else has going on.
